Park Hyatt Tokyo Hotel

The Park Hyatt sits on top of a three tower, 55-storey skyscraper called the Shinjuku Park tower, one of Japan's tallest and most impressive buildings. Holding 178 rooms, the Park Hyatt Tokyo may be small in comparison to the other, far larger hotels which sprinkle Asia's major cities, but holds her own when it comes to offering its guests exceptional service and a simple and elegant environment in which to stay.

A soundless elevator, dimly lit, first delivers its guests to a large and luminous lobby on the forty first floor. The guests are then greeted, and continue to be greeted by hotel staff who are famed for their impeccable service. Their hospitality is a traditional Japanese mix of formality, courtesy and warmth. Wherever you wander in the hotel don't be surprised to find staff members stopping what they're doing to greet you, smile sincerely and generally attend to your every need. Such service is even more remarkable considering there is no real culture for tipping in Japan.

The views from the hotel, especially from its restaurants, are truly breathtaking. Enjoy a quiet English tea in the serene and intimate setting of the hotel's Peak Lounge', and admire the panoramic views of Mount Fuji and the Shinjuku business district on offer.

The American designer, John Morford, designed the look of the hotel. Morford opted for both a traditional and contemporary look, using an array of soft fabrics and wood textures to help create a mood of calm and beauty. The hotel's rooms, which are very large, reflect this thinking too, boasting King sized beds with Egyptian-cotton sheets and down feather duvets.
