TV show reviews: The Twilight Zone

The Twilight Zone. One of my all time favorites. It was a program that literally picked you up and put you into the shoes of whoever the character was. It made me feel as if I were experiencing the same things. This was one program where I welcomed interruption from commercials. It gave you time to recoup a little and know it wasn't you in trouble.

My all time favorite was about a little girl. She was put to bed one night and rolled off the bed and underneath it. From there she entered a parallel dimension. From this world she had disappeared. No one could see her anywhere, but they could hear her. Her voice seemed to come from different parts of the walls at different times.

Her mother could hear her crying, hear her fear. She could hear her pleading for help and for "mommy" to come get her. The mom simply stayed upset because she couldn't find her anywhere but she knew she had to be some place close.

Then enters a man who helps the mother. He knows about parallel dimensions. He searches the little girls room till he happens upon this space in the wall beneath the bed. He puts his hand through and it disappears from sight. He pulls it back and there it is.

He explains how this kind of thing can happen and then tells the mother they have to hurry because after a certain time the place will seal up and become a solid wall again. He has explained how the little girl is somewhere in this parallel dimension and that he must go in after her.

So they do what they must and he goes in. They tied a rope or something around his leg so he could find his way back. He see nothing but open space and then notices faint shadows moving around. This panics him a bit because he doesn't know what it is. It appears to be people but he can't quite tell.

Eventually he finds the little girl and begins to return by following the rope. When they get back they fall into the room. Both him and the little girl. And of course as always it's right in the nick of time because as soon as they come through the wall begins to solidify again.

Being a child back then I stayed out from under my bed for along time. Who knew there were such places. I didn't. And I sure didn't want to find out if they truly existed or not. I look back now as an adult and kind of laugh. But who knows for sure?

Who know when it might be your, or my time to enter the twilight zone? Where everything is real and not real.
