We make mistakes because as free thinking human beings we want to explore new horizons and experience different things. Sometimes in so doing we are susceptible to making mistakes.
Let me give you an example. It could be the choice of two different jobs, one with a lot more money but involving a lot of travel and the other paying less money but closer to home. What would you choose? The initial reaction is to go for the higher paid job. Nevertheless, as time goes on the expense incurred in travelling might be a lot more than intially anticipated and if you add to this the additional stress of traffic jams and congestion charges (introduced in parts of Central London) then it seems that it was a mistake to go for this particular job in the first place.
The incurring of the mistake would not have been envisaged if it hadn't been made in the first place. By making the mistake we have learned something new and our horizon has expanded. We know something new that we did not know before. These sort of mistakes are also made in sheer naivete. But something useful has been learnt from this experience that we call 'bad'
In fact most 'bad' experiences teach us to be much stronger than we have been. Also that we need more knowledge about a particular subject or maybe we need to show our feelings a lot more than we normally do. Secondly we learn about other people and how to handle them. We learn that some people might be best avoided and others can be trusted to become lasting friends. We also learn about life in all its different colours. Somethings happen which might seem unfair at that time but on hindsight it seems to make sense why things happened the way they did.
Mistakes are easily made if a person is an emotional or sensitive character and does not think about things in a rational, well thought out way. When there is a decision to be made it is best to plan out how things are to be done using all the resources available to you rather than hastily committing to it. It is not without reason that the saying 'haste makes waste' has been widely quoted for years.
Mistakes affecting us can also have been made by other human beings. This is a difficult scenario especially in cases where you have leaders who are corrupt and should not have been elected at all. Their leadership can bring a country and its people to its knees. Most of these leaders do not learn from their mistakes but continue making them for the sake of money and power. Such mistakes take years before changes are brought about and some good is restored to the people again.
Therefore I feel mistakes are made to show us the path that is best for us, especially if we learn from these mistakes and go on to improve ourselves and our lives. The sensible human being is one who does not dwell in the negative aspect of a mistake but gets up to try his hand at it again. We all have choices available to us, to try and pick the best one available to us at that moment is the key.
