It was the first time in fifteen years that the Scottish league had not been won by either Rangers or Celtic, a fantastic achievement for Ferguson and something that must be seen as a career defining moment. The European Cup Winners Cup was won by Alex Ferguson and his Aberdeen side in the 1982-83 season making them only the third Scottish side ever to have won a European trophy. The time Alex Ferguson spent at Aberdeen was without doubt greatly useful, he won the Scottish league three times, the Scottish Cup four times, Scottish League Cup once, and as well as winning the European Cup Winners Cup the side also lifted the UEFA Super Cup in the following season. So many trophies were won by Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen, it was his first real lengthy spell at a club and he certainly here did not disappoint.

As manager of Manchester United, Alex Ferguson has to date domestically won the Premier League nine times, the FA Cup five times, the League Cup twice and the Community Shield a massive seven times. He's also had his fair share of success in Europe with the club and has won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Cup Winner's Cup and also the Intercontinental Cup. All of these European trophies he has with Manchester United won just the once, this is not to be frowned upon however and is without doubt a massive achievement for the man as manager.

The treble success of Manchester United in 1999 has to be seen as the finest that Alex Ferguson has ever achieved as manager.
