accent is family friendly, but hilarious all the same. "Here's Your Sign" is my recommended CD, although his Thunderbirds bit from the DVD 15 Degrees Off Cool is guaranteed to make you laugh yourself into a stomach cramp.
Buy it. Love it. If you don't, here's your sign...
3. Eddie Izzard
If you're familiar with this cross dressing English wit, already I know you and I could be friends. His routine is an amusing blend of history, current events and things so ridiculous you'll find yourself quoting his act in every day situations. But I'll warn you, if someone else is unfamiliar with your source material they may look at you like you've grown a third head. "Tea and cake or death!" "I was on the moon. With Steve." His act is also adult oriented as he curses quite a bit. But there's something almost classy about hearing swear words in a British accent. "Dressed to Kill" is the DVD.
Buy it. Watch repeatedly. Quote forever.
4. Sinbad
One thing I like about Sinbad is that he's completely family friendly. His act is 100% clean and yet still side splitting. This is a DVD you can watch with your grandmother, and should. His take on growing up in the 70s is hysterical, and one of the better comedy skits you'll find. If you can find it, "Afros and Bell Bottoms" is comedy gold.
Find it. Watch it, especially if you're on NutriSystem.
5. Billy Connelly
Like Eddie Izzard, Billy can get away with some of the most base humor (including fart jokes) because of his Scottish accent. He made his first impression with me when I saw him open for Whoopi Goldberg, and I laughed so hard I think I might have ruptured something. So if you can find that routine, I recommend you do. It's completely rated R, but I guarantee you'll laugh the laugh only dogs can hear.
YouTube it. Have oxygen handy.
6. Ellen Degeneres
Yeah, yeah I know I said I wasn't going to include the people I listed at the beginning of this article. Thing is, I find Ellen's subtle delivery brilliant. What seems like a rant I feel may be a carefully coordinated journey she's developed for our entertainment. And entertain she does. I recommend her book "My Point...and I Do Have One".
Buy it. Read it. You'll never look at the Iditarod the same way again.
7. Ron White
Like his "Blue Collar Comedy Group" buddy Bill Engvall, this fellow Texan earns a spot on my list because I totally relate to his humor and down home straight shootin'. He is not as family friendly as his cohort, but
