Before ever trying to fix your computer, create a system restore point. This will make sure that if you "mess up" you will be able to restore your computer to before you did.
Click on: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
A program called 'System Restore' should open. Follow the wizard. Make sure you check the box that indicates that you want to create a restore point. If you are unfortunate and your computer goes haywire you can always go to system restore and restore your computer to an earlier time.

Why do some computers run ever so slowly? They can be time consuming and very frustrating. There are many reasons why your computer runs slowly.

Spyware, Viruses and other computer diseases
No one likes them. They are one of the main reasons why your computer may ever crash down or stop working. They arrive in your email, with programs you download, by visiting sites etc. They are like little sticky bugs! They need to be gotten rid of. You should have an anti-virus and spyware checker on your computer, to get rid of them. If you do not, you should invest in one such as ZoneAlarm; I personally recommend buying ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It has gotten rid of all the sticky bugs and spyware that have tried to destroy my current computer for the last 6 years. There are a lot of free ones that you can download such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

You should run weekly checkups to check for spyware or viruses. Make sure you check the checker you are downloading. Some contain viruses and spyware waiting for you to download them.

Let's talk about spyware. Spyware is software that downloads itself onto your computer with your permission hidden in places such as emails, programs and photos. They collect information about you. They collect information such as the sites you visit, your internet habits. They can interfere with your connection, thus making it slower. They also sometimes re-direct the internet pages you view to another site such as a third party. To get rid of spyware you can download a free program such as Spyware Terminator.

A computer virus is a program that can copy itself onto different computers without the owner's knowledge. It infects the computer. They are commonly known as malworms. To get rid of viruses you can download a free program such as AVG Free Advisor.
