Movie reviews: The Da Vinci Code

Sometime last year, The Movie "The Da Vinci Code" Premiered in the Kenyan movie halls causing much unrest in the Christian world. Churches mobilized their followers against the screening of the movie and advised them not to even watch the movie. About a year later, I stumbled on this Christian DVD pack which unexpectedly included the movie. I quickly traveled home to watch and immediately on my arrival I switched off the lights to watch it the movie. Shortly after the lights went off may be a sign to warn me not to watch the movie. The following Sunday after going to church thus on a spiritual high I made my second attempt to watch the movie. And in deed I now understand why the church seemed to so much against it.

The movie is set in France and begins with a murder of an old man who later becomes a grandmaster of some sort. Tom Hanks acting as Robert Langdon goes to the crime scene and later meets Audrey Tautou as Sophie Neveu who together start their search for the source of Gods power on earth. Robert Langdon been very skilled in codes and a good student of history follows a list of leads that could ultimately lead him to his prized find but this is only under the watchful eye of the French police who with the driving skills of Sophie Neveu and many other actors who all have an interest in this secret treasure they aptly evade. They then find themselves in the home of sir leigh teabing ( Ian Mckellen)where teaching narrates the most astonishing story that made my ears twitch and eyes bulge. So astonishing is the narrative about the source of the church's power, that I have watched that scene over times to listen keenly to every word and have embarked on a research to find that truth. Unfortunately the narrative is interrupted by an obsessed killer and the French police they escape to London to complete their search for the Holy Grail.

While in London a lot of truth about exactly who leigh is revealed. He ends up holding Sophie and Robert hostage to try and force them to reveal the location of the Holy Grail it seems that Sophie and Robert are willing to die for a secret that can only be revealed to those who are worthy. Sir earl is captured and arrested for the death of three or more members of the priori of scion the guardians of the Holy Grail ending the chase for Robert and Sophie and the French police and the Opus Dei a catholic sect that aims to hide destroy the very trace of the existence of the Holy Grail. Robert and Sophie are now free to find the
