with just my Dad looking after her, so I returned to my family in another town.
A few months later I decided to have a talk with my Mum because something had been bothering me. You see, I was aware that my Mum had never had the hysterectomy, or any other operation for that matter, because when the Doctor opened her up he said she was so full of cancer there was nothing he could do for her! I also knew that Mum did NOT know that she hadn't had the operation. So, one day I very cautiously told her she had never had the operation and, to my surprise, she didn't believe me. I had to get my Dad to back me up, and even then she didn't believe either of us. So, we realized that the only person she would believe was her Doctor, so we made an appointment for her to see her him and of course he confirmed that she was indeed his miracle patient.
Her recovery was totally the result of her positive thinking. She thought she had had the operation and that there was no explanation as to why she was so sick. So she made up her mind that she would get well again - and that she did!.
My Mum lived for another three years before the cancer that riddled her body finally took her life. She was an amazing, strong woman - a woman who set such a wonderful example to all those who knew her. On the other side of the coin was her best friend. Just before my Mum passed away, her best friend was told by her doctor that she also had cancer. She was so terrified of the word 'cancer' that within a month she had died. Her doctor, who was also my Mum's doctor, told my mother that there was no reason at all for her friend's death. Her cancer was certainly treatable, but because in her mind the word cancer meant death, she basically willed herself to die. Again, another example of the power of the mind.
