Will technology take over the world?

It was during the invitation of the Olympic committee to an Asian country biding to host the Olympics that we saw this metallic person walk over to one of the officials of the Olympic governing body and hand over a bouquet of flowers. What was so interesting to see was that this humanoid, created by Honda, could find its own balance and stability and perfectly matched over the official moving its legs and hands in sequence. At a later event, the same Robot was able to climb up a stair case and later descend to the amazement of on lookers.

When I watched the Movie, I robot starring Will Smith, I did not have the idea at the time that the movie was displaying a possibly that's not that far from happening. When I saw the Honda created Humanoid, I realized that the world could end up being dominated by technology. Once machines start doing everyday tasks that we do, then it is possible that they will not need us yet we shall be dependant on them for everyday tasks. The Robots might decide to stage a revolution and create a world where they rule and not us. Movies like I robot and terminator might make you believe that would never happen but when you see a real Robot walking and its creators suggesting that in future they intend to make the Robots do the three D jobs (Dangerous, Demeaning and Difficult), one is overcome with real fear.

On another front the microchip is becoming smaller and smaller yet able to store more and more information. Soon a microchip will be able to be installed in every electronic device giving that device thinking' and communication abilities. Already there are people today who communicate with their fridges and ask the fridge if it has enough milk. The fridge confirms that it only has one packet and recommends the home owner to buy more which the home owner happy does. Some call that convenience but for me I call it fear. Soon the microchip will be made into a very small size that it will be possible to implant it into a person. Now imagine a situation where your phone, computer, fridge car and any other electronic are controlled by this implanted chip, imagine a situation where this chip is configured in a way that it is able to read your thoughts and therefore react to what your thinking. Wouldn't a person be able to trap someone in their houses and kill them by controlling the vacuum cleaner and the fridge? Would that be the start of techno crimes? Worse still imagine a situation where the microchip malfunctions, what damage can it do to the brain through the nerves by sending an extra strong current?

So for one to say that technology has the possibility of taking over the world is not a figment of one's imagination but a reality that we must face. We need to take actions to prevent this from happening by preventing the convergence of technology and the development of robots that have human like capabilities. This is because in the future some mad person like Hitler may gain control of these machines and cause havoc in our existing world. Humanoids are machines that are thus not susceptible to disease. They are metallic and thus are harder and able to withstand tougher living conditions than man. Could humanoids be the next evolution after man considering that the climatic catastrophe as predicted by environments actually occurs leading to uninhabitable human conditions. Could man be playing the role of God thus leading to the next world where technology will be the basis of life? Well I don't know. I am already having problems living in a world where technology rules my finances and the thought of technology ruling every other sphere of life in the world is really dreadful.
