If we look past the aesthetics of country music, we will see sillouhettes on the horizon of pioneer women gone by. Some are but brief shadows, and some are merely lounging in the shade, but they all once were surrounded by a golden aura that was beaming with talent. The women of country music were all trailblazers for the pretty little dames that we see today. If not for some of these brave souls, gals like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Jennifer Nettles (the little explosive front-woman of the Sugarland) would be tucked neatly in the bachground, far from the shining lights of the stage. I will allow others to sing the praises of the ever-popular Reba McEntire, so that I can focus on the women that held various charms and talents that we totally immerse ourselves in the glory of.
~Patsy Cline.
Perhaps the reason that she remains so beloved is because she died so shockingly and tragically. Or maybe it is the fact that her soulful voice was a virtual powerhouse full of perfection. Angelic singer, awesome actress, and all around good, kindhearted, Dolly is the sweetheart of country music. The proud owner of Dollywood cultivated a flawless image (mostly with her hair, those wigs, how fun!) both onstage and off. She has starred in countless, popular movies and is beloved by her peers as well as the majority of the world. Especially since she is a large weight(s) on her...um shoulders, so to speak.
~Jesse Colter.
Virtuous and pure, Jesse was the sweet adorably beautiful loving wife of Waylon Jennings. Once it was stated that if not for Jesse, Waylon would have been consumed by drugs and alcohol during the height of his career. This would have changed the face of country music as we now know it. Between her soothing abilities, the rearing of she and Waylon's love child, Shooter, she was left little time
