I believe that estate tax should be abolished because it is double or triple taxation of the taxpayers.

Estate tax is the federal tax that people are charged when someone dies. The government will take a cut out of whatever the deceased person owed before it is being passed on to their living descendents.

This is double taxation because the deceased person already paid sales tax on any property that they own. If it is real estate, they already have paid tens of thousands of dollars in property taxes. If it is a financial property, they already have paid interest or gains taxes. Plus, the deceased person has already paid hundreds of thousands of dollars into Social Security taxes.

How many times can the same person be taxed by a government? It seems like we get taxed repeatedly on the same amounts of money. This should not be allowed to happen. People should pay tax one time on anything and that should be the end of it. It is stupid to keep paying taxes at the same amounts over and over. When is it enough?

The estate tax really messes it up for people whom the deceased person wanted the property to go to after they died. If you want to give your grandchildren money or some kind of real estate after you die, it is not as simple as you may think. Regardless of what your will says, the government still wants to take their tax before it is given to the descendents. If they descend to wants to keep the property, he or she must pay the government estate tax on it or the government will take the property.

You cannot just give property or money away and large sums without the government getting their hands on part of it. They already got paid taxes on it, so they should not be allowed to double dip the same property twice or more times.

The government should double tax the politicians and see what they think of it. They would not like it at all. Politicians greatly under taxed themselves and probably give them some loopholes to pay even less taxes. We all know that a lot of them are getting money from the wealthy interest groups and they are not getting taxed on that money. If they want to double tax us, they should also be willing to double tax themselves. I really do not see them doing that. They want as much money as they can get. If they do not get enough, they will just make up another tax to make up for it.
