The battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton has been astonishing, and a real eye opener for the American public. What the democratic primaries have done is to practically destroyed any chance the democratic party has of running a presidential candidate with any chance of beating John McCain.
Let's first look at Mr. Obama. He's obviously a very educated, articulate, and intelligent person with the ability to mesmerize his audience with grandiose talk using very broad and empty statements, the kind of political clap trap that politicians have been spewing in this country forever. He's going to make big changes , and unite the two parties while leading the country into a Utopian state. Sounds nice, and he states the scenario well, but most Americans are starting to see past all the fluff and realize that Mr. Obama is just a young empty suit who possibly missed his calling as a minister. His wife is finally proud of this country because her husband is a candidate? She should close her mouth if she wants her husband to have a chance at winning the nomination. First lady material she is not!
Now onto the other candidate the democrats have decided to pit against McCain. Where do you start with Hillary Clinton? She comes across as the consummate disingenuous politician who changes her statements according to which way the political wind is blowing. And of course, she has attacked Obama with dirty in-fighting and false statements, all of which have backfired on her, and the person whom has done her the most harm is her husband. They come across as real snake oil salesmen, and the American people are smart enough to see through the two of them. This is the weakest ticket the democrats have put together in a long time, but what has made it seem worse is the fact that the public has become so much more media savvy that they can see right through the lopsided news coverage this primary has received. The main stream media has always tried to present the republican party in a negative manner, and has always leaned to the left, but now there are many more outlets available from which to gain insights which we didn't have in elections past.
So who is to benefit from the mess in the democratic party? I guess that would be John McCain. The two democratic candidates have destroyed any pretense of gravitas which they attempted to pawn off on the American public, and the only candidate that any thinking person would vote for is John McCain. He has the experience and the record, in addition to being a war hero. He comes across very well in the media, and there really aren't many political pundits who can say much in the way of negativity towards the man. He's a centrist who is strong on national security, the number one issue with most Americans.
The only choice left to the American public is John McCain, and I think that will become obvious to most in the coming months. It's time for the democrats to ban together and choose more palatable leaders for the public to choose from.
