"Grandma's Path"
"I am behind the times", she says,
In her kitchen poorly lit.
"I do not have money for such things,
You know, those fancy frills, and yet
I am quite content with what I have.
It's not much compared to most,
But I have peace within my soul.
No price to put on that!
Perhaps someday, if my ship comes in,
I'll replace a thing or two.
But for now, I think I'll just sit here
And enjoy my mountain view".
We reminisced about the days,
When simple was in style.
Walking was sophisticated and
It was nothing to walk a mile.
A short jaunt to the country store
As friends and neighbors all said "aye"
Yes, Grandma is behind the times,
In so many material ways,
But her integrity illuminates
The path she walks each day.
