FAR AWAY
This morning, your voice was
the sun touching me, warming me
making me feel loved.
Last night was a cold, icelandic ocean;
the distance creeping between us,
my insides freezing in.
Once before, we were gently floating islands,
tentative eddies
circling around each other's unknowable hearts.
Who knows the tomorrow of it?
I memorize the sound of your voice,
but it's always a new song you're singing.
I am growing and being felled,
twisting and holding still
living the ache, the adventure of
distance; long distance love.

chances lost, forever
