Easy gifts to make for all occasions

Easy Gifts to make for all Occasions

There is no special occasion that requires gift giving; you can give a gift to anyone at anytime. I am going to share a couple of my favorite gift ideas that I give to my family and friends at any time throughout the year.

One is a picture frame that I make out of plastic canvas. It is as simple as 123. First take a measurement of what size of picture you want to frame. Cut two squares of plastic canvas just a little larger that the picture, the extra holes will make the frame around the picture. Cover one piece with worsted yarn, any color, through each hole on a diagonal slant. This will be the back of your picture frame.

For the front panel, cut a hole in the center leaving four to five holes on each side, this will enhance the picture you wish to insert in the frame. Cover these holes the same color as the back. Use a different color yarn to cover the visible pieces of canvas inside the square, through each hole all around the inside of the square and tuck the end under the last few stitches you have covered, this will stop your work from coming apart.

When you are ready to insert your picture, put a drops of hot glue over the back of the picture you are inserting and place the picture so it will fit the whole window in the middle of the front panel. Using the same color as you used to enhance the frame inside the square, hold both panels between your fingers so that each hole matches the back panel. Draw your needle through each hole around the outside of the frame, tucking the end of the yarn under the last few stitches.

The other small trinket I would like to share with you is a hug poem. It is simple and can to done in a very short period of time.

First, cut a piece of canvas 22 holes long and 17 holes wide. On the back piece of the canvas you are going to cover with worsted yarn, whichever color you would like. Cover using diagonal stitches going through each hole. Leave around the outer edges free of yarn, to be done later.

On the front panel, you are going to cut a window from the bottom of the third hole, leave two holes on each side. Cut this window out with 9 holes down and 13 holes wide. You should have two holes on each side of the window. Cover this panel with the same color as on the back panel except the outer edges on the inside and outside of your window.

Use a different color yarn, which will also be used to cover the visible stitches around the window and to connect the two panes together. Using the alternate color yarn, you are going to stitch five holes down and four across for each letter. Now you are going to form the word H U G across the stitches of the bottom of the front panel. Leave one space between each letter across.

Inside the window, you are going to place a small piece of paper with these words on it, just as you see below, only smaller print.

I wanted to send
You something
"Special"
But how in the
World do you send a
A

Right under the window you have already spelled out the word HUG.

The word HUG and the outer edges of your piece of canvas will be the same color. On the back panel, you are going to glue the piece of paper with the poem on it so that it shows in the window, be sure to center your paper so that you can read the poem. Using the alternate color, hold both panels between your fingers, stitch joining both panels, lining up each hole exactly around the entire outer edge, tucking the yarn under the last few stitches already done so your yarn will not be able to come apart.

I hope these instructions are accurate enough for anyone wishing to make them, without any problems. If not, feel free to contact me for further help.
