I wanted to scream "look at me!"
But I was shy, and so was he.
I thought he hadn't seen my smile,
But yes, he'd noticed, and after a while,
he smiled right back and looked so pleased.
I sighed with pleasure, tension eased.

But still, we both stayed shy.
Tongue tied, bashful, and by and by,
he plucked up the courage and gave me a wink.
I blushed in turn and what do you think?
I winked right back, feeling courage grow,
And in that moment, did we not know?

Just what would grow between us
that we never needed to discuss?
A simple message through soul's window,
The thing that love did show,
Something special had happened in a blink,
With that simple, innocent, hopeful wink.
