Poetry: A wink

by Sharon Smith

Created on: April 11, 2008

I look in the mirror to see just a reflection of me. A plain 40's woman, nothing special

see. Walking out the door, I see my make-ups a mess, but who cares, who could I impress?

I go to the store, the woman sneer at my looks, they don't take the time see my hearts quiet

brooks. I smile regardless of their shallow thoughts, I know they, too, have had these

feelings fought. As I go on with my mundane day, enter the elevator, with a man in gray.

He speaks to me cordially, kindly and then, he looks into my eyes and gives me a grin. The

doors open wide, he looks in my eyes, and smiles at me genuinely and gives me a wink.
