Can I back out as a buyer on eBay?

Completing The Transaction

Alright, so you have found the perfect collectible and have your spot picked out for it. Now you want to buy that great item that you have been looking for, you've done all the necessary research, and checked out the buyer, and checked to see that you are getting the best deal on the item. So, now what do you do? Well there are a few more things left on your to-do list before you jump into a bidding war, or before you click that "Buy It Now" button; also make sure you are solidly placed in the site, and have your head in the right place. Don't get too excited that you go off the site, no matter what the seller tells you. Luring away buyers to use a bank wire transfer is what scammers usually do, so keep an eye out.

How Do They Want You To Pay?

Find out what kinds of payment the seller is going to accept; some only accept USPS money orders, which are safe, of course, as far as protecting your bank information goes, but somewhat inconvenient, for the buyer to have to go down to the post office, buy the money order, pay for postage, and send the money order to the seller. And most sellers require that you send the payment first, so then you have to decide whether or not you're willing to take the risk of sending your money to god knows where, and maybe getting nothing sent back. Credit cards are the safest forms of payment, as long as you make the purchase on the site, and not be persuaded by the seller to use some other method of payment.

How Much Do They Want For S&H?

Check on how much the seller is planning to charge for the shipping, handling, and delivery costs. Usually, the sellers do specify a particular cost for shipping, and a larger fee for delivery that is air-mailed, or sent over night, for next day delivery. If for some reason you are having misgivings about how much the shipping costs are, you can always email the seller and ask them how they came to that particular rate. If you aren't sure, you can call your post office and ask them. Also, don't take charges for S&H that are through the roof, very seriously. People are trying to make money off of all aspects of the selling process. Something that weighs four ounces shouldn't cost thirty dollars to send through the mail, and the people who try to pull that kind of stuff, are just scammers.

Will They Let You Return It?

Don't forget to look at the kind of policy the seller has on returning the item, and what sort of limitations they have specified. Namely, because some of them don't
