Poetry: Alarm clocks

Curious little boy lived near a museum on the edge of
the historic side of this quaint little town.

Six years old. Too old for baby toys. Old enough
to explore dusty relics from the past.

He crawled through a broken window
at the bottom of the building.

He was a clever child. He'd brought
some dirty clothes and sheets to

He had a tiny little flashlight.
He walked through the humongous building.

It was cold and dark. He smiled then he laughed.
Only the insects could hear his happiness.

He let out a little gasp. Thousands of alarm clocks.
There were also other clocks from different eras.

But alarm clocks fascinated him.
He didn't know why but they did.

He touched them and marvelled.
He wanted to rescue some of them.
But he was afraid he'd get in trouble.

Soon this sacred spot became his
special sanctuary from the world.

Thousands of new old friends.
He'd sit there in the dark.
Enjoying time as it quietly stood still...

    Dreaming away
