Poetry: A day in my life

The world on my shoulders, a smile on my face
The girl in the mirror is hard to embrace
I'm a mother of three, yet I tend to just two
I go through the motions, but if only you knew
What a day in my life was really about
I'm a vision of strength surrounded by doubt
Do you know that I miss you, can you still hear my voice
Do you know it was love that influenced my choice
Born way too early, I had to let go.
A nightmare confronted, no parent should know
The horror endured, the pain that I feel
The days when I wonder how can this be real
I've dealt with my demons, I've nurtured my soul
And yet there are days when I still don't feel whole
I honor your memory, and I still shed a tear
I look at your pictures and wish you were here.
I'm a mother of three, yet I tend to just two
But each day in my life brings me closer to you.

    A day in my life
    A sky of often-grey
    A never-lifting cloud
    An endless fall of rain

    A bout of shining sun
    Playing peek-a-boo
