Poetry: Far away

Though it seems you're far away
I hold you close and dear
Your supportive words, your nurturing ways
you're not present but you're near

Even though you're far way
and the distance between us,divides
The caring and the love you give
your generous heart provides

In reality,you are far away
but this distance does not deny
Your involvement in my life today
on this I can rely

Leaving you behind and moving away
was the hardest thing to bare
and many a time, the thoughts of you
has brought me to the brink of despair

You are my loving mother
You are my best friend too
and many a time I think of you
and wonder what's best to do

You always encouraged my own decisions
and supported the choices I've made
And even when I got it all wrong
your faith in me never swayed

It's strange that as a teenager
I denied my resemblance to you
But now,as a full grown adult
this resemblance I see to be true

Now even though you're far away
you're not that far at all
When I look into the mirror now
I see you there,after all

I thank you for the person you made me
and I love that I'm more like you
So for now, this temporary living apart thing
is a little less harder to do
