The appropriate answer to this question is not really an answer, it's a question. Why can't you be rich? The power of thought is creativity at its highest level. All things come into being by first appearing as a thought. The thought transforms into action if you decide to act on the thought. Action creates your reality. In essence, your thoughts are your reality. Do you imagine yourself living a luxurious lifestyle? Is that your reality? If it is, you have completed the thought, action, realization circle to create your lifestyle.

If not, which piece are you missing?

Thought? If you're wondering why you're not rich, you've obviously already thought about it.

How about action? Have you done anything to make your thought your reality? Do you have a plan in place to carry you to where you want to be? Why haven't you acted on your thought? What is preventing you from acting? Identify obstacles and use the same thought process on them to make them disappear.

If your minds eye can see no further than your current reality, you will never be able to change it to what you want. You must see yourself where you want to be and in what circumstances in order for the action part to take over and get you there.

If you see yourself owning a home home one day, you will own a home one day. If you see yourself becoming rich, you will become rich. If you see yourself growing old in your same house, you will grow old in your same house. The mind is an extremely powerful thing. It can control everything in your life from healing yourself, to being rich, to getting everything out of life that you desire. The awe of this comes when you realize with overwhelming certainty that you are in control the whole circle.
