There are some lost nights
When I can't stop thinking
The past it haunts me
The future even more
My mind keeps slipping
Sliding into a painful circle
A circle that will not allow me
To bury my thoughts
So I stay up and I burn
And I wonder,
What is it that makes you hold onto your sanity?
Most men cling to it till their last breath
And again,
What reason have they to bother?
Who is more free?
That sad soul in asylum?
Or the trapped man in control?
Who in the end, has the key?
Or are you like me-
Do you let go from time to time
And smile as the lost shadow of you
slowly
slides
away
