denied China's sovereignty over Tibet."
Around the end of 1949, the American Lowell Thomas roamed Tibet in the guise of a "radio commentator" to explore the "possibility of aid that Washington could give Tibet." He wrote in a US newspaper: " The United States is ready to recognize Tibet as an independent and free country." In the first half of 1950, a load of American weaponry was shipped into Tibet through Calcutta in order to help resist the PLA's entry into Tibet. On November 1 of the same year, US Secretary of State Dean Acheson openly slandered China's liberation of its own territory of Tibet as "invasion". The self-contradiction was already a big slap in the face of US by itself, because the map used for US military in World War II marked Tibet as an integral part of China.
A book "The CIA's Secret War in Tibet" coauthored by Kenneth Conboy of the Heritage Foundation and James Morrison, an Army veteran trainer for the CIA proudly detailed how the CIA set up and ran Tibet's so-called resistance movement. The Dalai Lama himself was found on the CIA payroll and approved the CIA's plans for the armed uprising. The CIA put the Dalai Lama's brother, Gyalo Thodup, in charge of the bloody 1959 armed attack. A contra-army was trained by the CIA in Colorado and then dropped into Tibet. The 1959 "uprising", much like Bay of Pigs invasion of socialist Cuba was planned and organized to overthrow the Chinese Government and tie the Tibetans to the US imperialist interests.
Until even today, with the cold war idea in mind, it is no wonder that China has been humiliated, disfigured and spread on purpose through their media as a threat to the interest of hegemony although the world witnessed the great economical success and social development of China in the past decades.
However, all these ugly conspiracies suffered from desperate failures and cannot stop the resolution of Chinese to unite and develop their country. The irresponsible remarks of some politician and media such as CNN, BBC on the recent events in Tibet, who enjoy being the propaganda of "Tibet Independence" remind us that they continue to cook up the so-called "Tibetan independence" and hope Tibet serve their audacious interest, and put Tibet at their beck and call.
