My partner and I went to the cinema intending to see Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix, but when we got there, it was unfortunately sold out. So instead of wasting a journey, we decided that we would go to see The Simpsons Movie instead, as we are both fans of the Simpsons TV Show, we thought this would be a film we would both enjoy.
The basic storyline of the movie is that Homer does something bad, nothing unusual there then, which has bad consequences for Springfield and all of its inhabitants. Homer then has to try and save Springfield whilst trying to win bck his wife and family at the same time. Sounds like any normal day in the life of the Simpsons doesn't it really?!
Well, I must say that I thought it started off quite well. It started with your basic Simpsons humour involving silly behaviour and ridiculous dares being exchanged between Homer and his son Bart, and a shocking flash by Bart! Homer falls in love with a pig, much to the annoyance of Marge, and Lisa is being her usual global-saving, annoying self trying to get the residents of Springfield to save their polluted lake.
Springfield manages to clear up the lake in super speedy time, but of course Homer isn't one to follow the rules. He acts in a way which leaves the Springfield residents literally living in a bubble. But the SImpsons manage to escape and realise it is their mission to try and save Springfield and their friends, whilst being on the run.
This is where I will end the part about the story of the movie as I do not want to give anything away to anybody who has not yet seen it. Instead I will move onto my personal opinions of the film, its animations and voice-actors.
I will be honest. I really disliked this movie. I found the start amusing, typical Simpsons humour, yet I felt it went very downhill quickly as we got about 25 minutes into the film. It seemed to be dragging out too much, and sort of lost its way in the humour stakes. There was a real lack of clever comedy, which is something the Simpsons TV Show is famous for, which I thought was rather unfortunate. The jokes seem to be somewhat forced, and I didn't laugh at all. Homer seemed to be more exagerated and stupid than he is in the show, but for me it just didn't seem to work.
We don't see much of the Simpson children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as the film progresses, I quickly realised that the film was going to be very much centred around the character of Homer. We saw the odd bit featuring Marge, but again nothing compared

Remember funny, bald, fat, yellow Homer Simpson? Well, he is back, and this time more self-centered, lazy and bald as ever.
