This is a true story to let you know
I ended my alarm clock affair many years ago
To my own body did I trust to keep the time
To my own resolution did I trust my mind
I hated that thing with a passion so fierce
I would wake to its evil screaming, in my ear it would pierce
I hated what it stood for, how it kept track of my day
How it didn't trust my intuition, my own schedule it threw away
It told when to rise, when the rest of the world would work
What time I should go to bed, and when I was late, it was such a jerk
Its ever present reminder our time is not ours alone
Don't ask how I feel about the phone
