Poetry: A wink

She stands up to give her speech
Hundreds of eyes, her audience
All she wants to do is to hide away
But this needs to be said, her voice needs to be heard

And as she hears herself speak
A small voice, a child's voice she hears
More than a child she will have to be
If this message has to be deliverd

And as her eyes scan the people
A dark handsome face seems to stand out
The smiling eyes make her want to smile
The dark eyes seem to urge her on

As she watches him she sees him wink
Her words pour out, her message gets loud and clear
With each moment she feels much stronger
The child gone, in its place a strong woman

This woman has a voice, a story to tell
All fear now gone, she continues so well
Her message delivered, her speech comes to an end
And as she steps down her eyes search the crowd

He has gone, the man with the smile
She wonders who he was and where he has gone
Maybe she will never be able to let him know
All it took was a wink....just a wink

    With a twinkle

    And a devilish smile
