How to create an image link

Many tools are available when creating a website. You can work in a text editor and write html code, or you can use one of the many automated tools available such as Dreamweaver, EZpad , KomPozer, WYSIWYG HTML Editor (which is cryptic geek language for"What You See Is What You Get"), and The CoffeeCup Html Editor. These are all very good editors, but please note there are many editors available. Some are free, some are quite expensive and some are simply done in a text editor such as Notepad, with some basic HTML knowledge.

When uploading an image, be careful about which image you choose, as many large images will overpower your website and the content may be difficult to find. It may also use a lot of your available space from your service provider. Try and keep your images consistent in size (height and width), and be wary of the format of your images. For example, TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) are usually large in size because of the resolution, JPG files are usually a good option because they load relatively quick and if properly sized, the image resolution is great on the web.

Adding a link in html is coded as follows:

< a href = " http://www.your_site_here.com/ images " > < img

src = " http://www.your_site_here/imag es/my_image_to_insert.jpg " /> < / a >

"Note the above code should have all spaces removed. This was done to preserve the html code in this article"

Starting at the left-hand side of the code, ends the img src tag. And the is the end of the anchor tag for the image link.

These are the basics for adding an image link to your web page. If you do this in a simple text editor, please be aware there are other "tags" needed for formatting an entire page. These include the HTML tag, the header tag, a background if so desired, etc. The image link as described above can simply be inserted into a web page.

There are many other types of objects that can be embedded into a web page. The web author simply needs to be knowledgeable about the syntax of the tag they need to embed an object. Sites such as Wordpress or Typepad allow you to add links by filling out a form with the information and uploading the image or page you wish to submit. It is up to you how simple or complex you would like to be and how much control you need when managing your content.
