Amongst the pile of bills a letter beckons
open me now, I can solve all your problems
possess me and you can buy whatever you want
things you ever desired within your reach!

She is mesmerised by the words
her mind already visualising the sprees
she sends the letter off and lo and behold
within a week the magic plastic arrives!

It looks shiny, it looks cool
and amongst its numbers her name shines too
she now has the power to spend thousands
and only a little to pay back each month!

As the months roll into years
the plastic seems to lose its appeal
the monthly sum to pay ever increasing
the shopping sprees steadily decreasing!

She soon realises that credit cards can be a curse
without care and fear if they are used
tying you up in knots of debt
leaving you worse off than before!

A pair of scissors she now takes
cuts the piece of plastic into tiny shreds
her battle to get her out of debt
though hard, would hereon have to be plastic free!
