Choosing flooring that helps the environment

Green Friendly Flooring

Supporting the creation of a healthier planet is so easy, so once again I am bringing you the latest news on earth friendly products and experiences!

Green or Eco-Consciousness definitely has a learning curve. I believe everyone likes the idea of "Green" but is not always sure what it will look, smell, taste or feel like.

Remember with every purchase you make you are voting for the world you want.

What about flooring products that save trees and the environment?!Well there is no shortage. Take a look at some of the beautiful options:

Natural Linoleum - made from linseed oil pine resin, wood and cork power and limestone dust. It can be used any where, even countertops! Plus it is durable, self healing, anti microbial, colorful and has a 35 year life span and even in production has no waste because the scraps are just added back into the product!

Cork improves air quality because it can not absorb or release dust into the air. It reduces fatigue and increases comfort because it bounces back this is what I want in my kitchen. Cork has two hundred million closed air cells per cubic inch which makes it resilient, durable, and moisture resistant and provides acoustical and thermal insulation.

Bamboo ohhhh beautiful natural hues, a unique grain, a quick growing renewable resource it's a grass and harder than oak and more durable than maples.

Reclaimed wood - what if you used reclaimed wood for your flooring, or paneling. It has a delicious richness to it beside the fact that it saves trees. Many inner city old buildings that are being torn down have "parts that could easily be saved or try an old barns or house! Reclaim, recycle, restore is my new motto!

How about the floor coverings no shortage there either but there are special considerations.

Jute Rugs 100 % percent natural, natural colors from cream to dark brown but it can also be dyed , one of the softest most durable natural floorings, not for use in area that have high moisture levels, great for bedrooms because it is so soft, not good for high traffic areas.

Bamboo Rugs natural colors and texture just like the flooring, durable, suitable for any environment

Wool Rugs 100% natural can be dyed, durable, and suitable for any location, easy to wash, a renewable resource, known for softness and warmth mine are even used in the kitchen.

Seagrass Rugs 100% natural, resistant to stains, strong non porous fiber, great in heavy traffic areas, except stairs, best on flat surfaces, renewable resource again made from grass, colors range from sea green to olive, smooth texture and a slight sheen.

Sisal Rugs easy to dye and weave into lots of patterns, made from the agave plant again a renewable resource that also just happens to be know for producing great sweetener low carb syrup in case you love pancakes and tequila. As floor covering it is great any place in the house, flame retardant and sound absorbing.

Remember with every purchase you make you are voting for the world you want.
