How to create an image link

You create an image link by writing the correct html coding. This basically done by writing the code, the html page and then adding the line code to your head html code. Althought this is realatively easy to do if you know html; it is easier to do if you know html and also know how to use web designing software.A picture may be worth a thousand words but not on a website unless you make thumbnail prints of them and create links to them so that they can be turned on and off. In this way people can click on the ones they want expanded. Even today, images, even as prolific as they are online, consume lots of space and time.

You have already created your own html page and you are proud of yourself. You know that there are easier ways of getting online by having others do all the back-breaking head-achy work for you, but you want to do it yourself. First you create your image file on your computer and place it in your online space file. (There will be plenty places on line where you can learn how to do this. If you already have an online web page you basically follow the same procedure up to this point. You upload your picture to your online file and give it a name with an image extension.

Then in your html document you insert the proper coding. You can find this online or from your source books. Getting it online and inserting your file name for theirs is the simplest way of doing this. With your coding you are creating a space and a way of presenting the image. With this coding you are telling the browser how large a space the picture is to occupy, how the text will flow around it, and all other details.

Web pages are so far removed from what they once were that you don't find the enthusiasm for do it your self html as you once did. In its beginning it was relatively easy to put a simple picture on your webpage. Believe it or not it is still that simple if you know html. All the newfound gimmicks are offshoots of this basic and humble beginning.

In the many web developing software they will allow you to use your own html, or most of them will. I never had much luck fooling around with Frontpage; the reason being it was so vast and so confusing. Actually, however, if you are adept at using it, inserting an image into your web page is as easy as finding your picture on you computer and following their directions.

I would suggest you know exactly what you want and then go online and search for the particular information you need. It is rather ludicrous for me to explain how it once was done when html was all we had. Now there's so much more that do it not only easier but better. It all depends on what you want to do onlinewith your website.

Years ago, I struggled mightily just to get a one page sample writing page on Aol. It was a real accomplishment and I was real proud of myself. Now I have no such needs, Helium does it so much better. All I have to do if I want to show an editor my writings samples is to give them a few urls form my Helium stash. Thanks to Helium I can just write and leave the mechanics to them.

Young writers listen: Learn html, it will serve you later. It will open up avenues of experience and understanding that you would not know othewise. It is far more interesting, I think to learn html, than it is to sit and click, click, click on computer games. With a knowledge of html and all that it has to offer and the directions it can lead you toward, you may one day soon be writing those games instead of just playing. But please, stop making them so aggressive.
