As an automobile enthusiast, I would not replace my gas vehicle by a electric one now. And I am sure that electric vehicles are not the answer to high gas prices. I bought a electric bike before I decided to buy a car, and I drove it to work or back home loading some living things. And I have some feelings of that. Despite that fossil energy is limited, we can develop the substitute. I do think vehicles powered by gasoline work better than electric vehicles in following aspects.

At first, as we know, engine powered by gasoline is more powering than electric engine. Since electric vehicles lack power, vehicles powered by electricity accelerate slowly and can not carry a load. On the contrary, though their bodyworks are heavy gas vehicles can also accelerate quickly. They can satisfy our desire for power. When we go out for a camping we can take more things.

And it is my opinion that electric vehicle can not run on relatively high velocity. Driving my electric bike fast, I can feel that it's trembling. They almost can not reach the velocity limited on the freeway, so you nearly see an electric vehicle running on the freeway. But I do think a electric bike or car is a good alternative if you want to buy one vehicle to ride instead of walk in the city.

By the way, safety is another aspect, which users put importance on. And gas vehicles do better in this aspect. It is calculated that gas vehicles usually be heavier than electric vehicles because gas vehicles have enough power. So the producer can install more safety equipments on them. Of course, gas vehicles usually be more expensive than electric vehicles, but I think it is worthy.

All in all, as a new concept, the topic on electric vehicles are popular now because they are environment-protective and the price of fossil energy is rising. But more people choose vehicles powered by gasoline. I think few people will decide to buy unless electric vehicles are of driving power and satisfy people's driving patterns, or people change their driving habit and try to accept the fact that electric vehicles are different from vehicle powered by gasoline in some aspects.
