The Effect Of The Hand
I take my hand and strike
the face flinched then
cruel words are said
no excuses, no compassion, no tears
The child grows to expect
the hand flies up
pain comes rejection
no excuses, no compassion, no tears
A man is he now
hard cold dead inside
his hand rises, when his baby cries
he offers no excuses, no compassion,
no tears...stop rewind..back to the beginning
I take my hand and touch
the back of his small head
caressing with love,offering excuses,
applying compassion,wiping the tears away
a man he is now...for the better
