Racial inequality or oppression: Do they truly exist in today's society?

The Mindset of Black America

I want to tell you about my people. We are a race contrived of survivors. We are powerful and enigmatic. We are black Americans. It is high time that our country receive a new perspective on closing the gap between black and white America. This deep rooted concept of inequality has caused damage to the thought processes we have. The disabling mindset of black America has caused me to assume that we are not considered equal to our counterparts.

The history of oppression in black America displays a telling story of how Africans were brought to America and were forced to adapt to a new environment to survive. Many of these aged processes of thinking have been passed down throughout the generations, thus creating a detrimental mentality in the black community. There is no way to assess the damage that may have been created by past abuse, but I suspect that this mentality has assisted pessimistically toward the future of black Americans. The media portrays African-Americans more as entertainers instead of showing us achievers in our occupations. It's common knowledge that a person imitates what they receive from the media. This creates an ideology that interferes with the furtherance of blacks' careers in a broader range of jobs.
