Why it's better to give than receive

Because you stand out.

It is better to give than to receive, because in giving, inevitably, you are guaranteed something in return as well. The point of giving should never be primarily to see what you can get out of it, but it is nonetheless a byproduct of giving. Why do philanthropist give, and give so much away? Yes, because they can afford to...

But, because they also understand the principle of giving. When they give they, in fact, are giving to themselves just as much as the recipient of their giving. They receive tax write-offs, community favors, allowances, etc,. People should always give with the right motive of the heart, because in doing so, it also shows appreciation, it shows that you actually care about the person and/or cause you are giving to.

I would hate to find out that someone was coerced or blackmailed into doing anything for me. Whenever I have done something for anyone I have always checked my motives. Because in giving you should never give to expect anything in return. When you do that right there, should tell you, the motives are not pure. You are just operating in a regimental way, expecting something to be done for you, in return.

I can remember back in November, around Thanksgiving time, my church was having a good give-a-way. It was an outreach program that was targeted toward the elderly in the city; which was something I really wanted to do; since my church is located in a town that has been known to be economically impoverished. Furthermore, I helped pack up Turkey, vegetables, stuffing and other assortments and brought it, to their vehicles. See, what I was doing wasn't because I could/should expect anything back from the people that did show up. Rather, I did it out of the kindness of my own heart.

I knew what it was like to be feel abandoned, neglected (we tend to forget the elderly) and unimportant. Sure, I engaged in an activity with many members of my church, however I still felt individually that I really made a difference in some lives. As I was riding around in the church van delivering food, I can remember some of the people telling me that they had never even heard of the church that we were a part of. Funny thing was that the church was mere minutes away from the apartment complexes those people lived in. Advertisements (both radio and billboard) were displayed roundabout, yet they were uninformed of the missionary work that we were administering.

I felt good not because I, myself, was curing world
