be many hidden costs so be watch out. Employers are feeling the pressure of unions and other competition so the way they are coming back is by offering contract work.
Companies love this. They don't have to pay benefits they can get rid of you without having to fight a union and they lay the terms anyway they see fit. People need jobs so they know people will agree to their terms no matter how unfair they can be. No long term investment is needed it is just year to year.As an employee this is not the most comfortable way to work knowing that after the next year you can be gone but people do it to get by or because their is nothing else in their field at the moment. Employers use all these tools to get what they want to make the most profit after all that is bottom line. It is not that people are stupid employers use people's desperation
People are desperate for many reasons the job market is intense and competition is fierce. In order to gain an advantage people agree to conditions they normally would not e.g working long hours, working weekends, contract work. It is fair probably not but it's life we get ourselves into difficult situations and next think you know there is someone there to take advantage.
So one way or another we are being exploited. Companies are there to make money bottom line. They claim to care about us but lets get real we are all expendable. The sooner we understand this the better. This may seem cynical but I am just giving you the facts. There are some employers who may actually care but you can count those in 1 hand. All we can do is protect ourselves and pray we are doing jobs that we love.
