"Honesty is the first chapter of the book of wisdom", Thomas Jefferson.
....but
"We tell lies when we afraid....afraid of what we don't know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie, the things we fear grows stronger", Tad Williams.
Analyzing the current world situation make us realize that honesty is not the best policy anymore which is actually it should. By learning from the history, dishonesty has been done since the human was created and has been done not only by individual but also by corporate, media, governments and even religious institutions. Why? Because the lies offer more than the truths, because people love to hear the lies and denied the truths, because the lies are easy to admit than the truths, because the truths are boring! So many reasons will come up when we ask about why people say the lies.
People want to look the best among others and undoubtedly, our live sometimes steered by others' opinions. We act as what other's expect from us and not as what we really want. Then our live is a result of others' opinions and not what the exactly who we are. Do we really enjoy it? Be someone that even we do not know. Can we live in the world where we do not know who we are? And when we look at the mirror, we can not recognize a figure that looks back. The lies will never end until we tell the truths, because the lies like additives and they need more and more until us dying because of them.
"Lies are necessary to life", said Frederich Nietzsche
...and
"Men occasionally stumble over the truth but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened", Winston Churchill.
No! There are no white lies. Lies always are untruth, dishonesty whatever the reasons are. If a mother said her daughter looks beautiful with a gown just not to hurt her daughter's heart, but when her daughter knows the truth that she looks ugly because of the gown, how does she act? Does a daughter still in trust with her mother?
How about ex governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer? Can people accept the truth that he had a scandal with a high priced prostitute girl, Ashley Alexandra Dupre? It hard to accept, wasn't it? The truths from his mouth came too late and after the lies were exposed. People were disappointed, but if the truths come earlier and people would admit even that were hurt. The latest truths are harmful than the earliest! Yes, the liar easily moves on, but not the harmful people
Recent world is full of lies, they become our daily. We compel to admit the lies until we enjoy them and we fall under, addict to them. Finally, we agree that with dishonesty the life becomes wonderful. We love to be lied and sometimes we chose to be lied by others. Sadly, we live in the world with some people and institution legalizes "white lies" and we enjoy the lies because those are pleased and life seems so beautiful.Do we really want to be lied by others?
We have a choice how we are going to live, be honest or dishonest! But we need to remember no matter how harmful the truth, we will feel happy at the end!
