Music is important on so many levels. It has been proven that learning music can help a child in math and science. I believe it. When I was younger, those were my favorite subjects. Ever since I was born, music has been a huge part of my life. My family is very musical as well as movie buffs. As soon as I could talk, I started singing. Not well, of course, just for fun mostly. And I still lack that particularly special gene. I do however have a knack for instruments. At the age of six, I got my first acoustic guitar. And I still have it. I strummed on it a few times, but it didn't stick with me. When I was seven, I remember my mom asking me about piano lessons. Sadly, I declined, but my reasons were good. And that is a entirely different story. By the time I was eight, I became interested in the violin. A few months after I had started, my teacher told me I was one of the better students in that class. It didn't affect me, but when I told my family they were thrilled. They were just so happy with the idea of someone in the family picking up an instrument. My aunt plays guitar, but she rarely has time for that anymore. Sadly, I quiet the violin one year after I had started. And I regret it now. But, my main reason for quitting was boredom.
I remember everyone being incredibly upset with me. My violin teacher even said that I had enough potential to go to Julliard. She even said that she would help me get there. I had everything in my grasp and I dropped it due to lack of motivation. However, the violin led me to my other talent, the guitar. At the age of fifteen, I found the guitar again and took lessons. And that earned me my first electric guitar. I knew that I needed a hobby badly, but I never knew that it would become a part of me. I am so glad that I took violin because I was already familiar with the chords and such. So, it basically led me to my best skill. And I wouldn't change that fact. My next conquest is my keyboard. I'm getting better now, but I still have a long way to go. I also have been working on my bass. And if you play guitar the transition is really easy, for me anyway. I still plan to expand my musical talents. And I think I want to play the violin again.
