The most common things students forget to pack for college

There are so many things rushing through your head when you first go to university or college that you are bound to forget something, and that something is usually very important. Here is a list of the most commonly forgotten items we students tend to leave behind;

Cooking implements. It is very easy to simply forget about something as important as a wooden spoon or a tin opener. Not having a tin opener can be disastrous to those of us who live off of baked beans. Yet this is a thing that is easily forgotten.

Pens are all too easy to forget, and it is only once you are in your lecture that you realise just how important they are.

Covers for duvets and pillows. There is nothing worse than sleeping on a mattress without a cover, and using a duvet which does not have a snugly cover. It doesn't help you sleep and is very itchy.

Toilet paper. Here is something that I know I have forgotten about a few times, usually resulting in a quick dash to the nearest supermarket for some more, or begging fellow students for toilet rolls.

Forgetting a coat when it is the middle of winter can be particularly horrible, it is easily done as well, especially if you have more than one coat. You can think that you have one at university, and then you get there and find out that, in fact, it isn't there at all. So now you have to freeze.

Cleaning equipment is another common thing to forget. Most of us don't realise how much you actually need in order to clean properly. If my parent's hadn't been around to help me pack I would have definitely forgotten about those, and have forgotten about them in later years.

A USB stick containing all of your work is a particularly frustrating thing to forget, especially if you do a computer related course. It usually has the most recent copies of your work on it and if lost, that means you have to do all that work again. Students are, by nature, lazy, so the prospect of having to re-do a large amount of work is horrifying.

There are plenty of other weird and wonderful things that students forget to bring with them to university. It happens to everyone. That one thing which you really, really need in order to do something important always happens to be the one thing that you left behind somewhere. It's sod's law.
