I Swallow Poems
Mine alone, these verses of grief
cyphers of strength, venues for relief
from sorrow too fierce for tears.
Testimonials of wounds to my heart
profound enough to rip love apart
and make my soul cold.
If discovered by the one who harms me
his warped views of love they might make him see
or more likely spur outrage and denial.
I swallow poems to prevent further grief.
