Out of the vast Pacific
came the dream -
that races could live in harmony,
could overcome differences
and walk side by side.
Rainbows followed rains,
pulling sunshine over craggy mountains -
Children running ahead of their elders,
with confetti and sparklers,
new hope and tomorrow's glow.
Hawaiian, Samoan, Maori, Chinese, Japanese, ...
living alongside one another,
embracing humanity with a lei of hospitality,
spirit of welcome,
universal bond of brotherhood.
