A simple question is asked is how do you get an email address. A better question would be what would you use it for exactly? If you think about it this is a very important question. If you are getting it because everybody else is getting one and you have no real use for it, then quite honestly you're wasting time. If anything, it would be best to get a free email account since they now offer a lot of space. I'm going to list a couple sites that I have used for my email usage and to be honest, these are ones I could seriously recommend to you. You could also get them through Instant Messengers as well if that is what you intend to use of course.

Hotmail: This was actually my first place of having email and didn't know much about it right away. I looked it over and it was something I would be using about 7 years to this date. When I had it, it didn't have nearly as much as space as you see right now. The maximum is 5 GB and that's a lot of space and would take a lot of messages with attachments to really catch it. Just like regular mail, you can get junk mail and it can be taken away. Keep in mind however that if it is something you want or you subscribed to a newsletter, you can change it to not go to junk mail. There is an option to prevent junk mail from appearing and it's in the spam filter. It can be deleted automatically. Recommended for first time users and of course anyone after that.

Yahoo: Unlimited email space right now. It sure looks to be that way because there is no percentage seen on my email and I've had it for about 6 years now. There used to be a limit but now it's gone. With this, it's the same as hotmail. It has pretty much the same features and you can change how it looks from classic to the new look. You can block out junk mail and have it deleted without looking at it if it gets to the point of annoyance. That is something that will come in handy.

The short conclusion for this is to simply sign up and you'll have to fill out your information. Make sure you go with a site that is trusting. If you don't think it's trusting or don't have a need for it, then do not waste your time. It's not going to do you or anyone any favors whatsoever. It's real easy to get email, it's just a matter of do you want it or have a need for it.
