Single parents have many roles to juggle; disciplinarian, caregiver, event planner, financial planner, cook, housekeeper, doctor, counselor, handy person...the list goes on. When the weekends arrive, single parents know that there is no such thing as rest, especially with active children. However, as the financial planner role kicks in, weekends can seem daunting financially. So exactly how do you provide a fun, filled weekend with your kids on a budget?

As a single parent and high school teacher, I am familiar with budgeting down to the penny. Due to the fact that my son and I are not homebodies, I have had to be creative and an excellent sleuth to keep both of us entertained.
