what IS and what AIN'T cool...

Hey, whats up... my name Corey, and I'm the coolest cat on campus. Yeah, that's right, I'm sittin in detention hall now, and Mr. Wise, the principal, just gave me a writing assignment. He thank I can't write. I can write. I just don't feel like it. This essay is supposed to be on why I don't do my work. I told him I ain't writing no essay. Corey don't write no essays. I just write sentences. He lucky I'm finna write this. This is what is and what ain't cool to Corey.

1. My English teacher, Mrs. Duncan got a problem. I mean I don't know if she got a problem, but she seem like she don't like her job. She walk slow, talk slow, kinda low, too. If she don't even like the work she give, why should I?

2. Imma buy my mama a house, when I start playing ball. I been playing basketball since I could walk, run, whateva. Imma play for the Heat. Imma get a scholarship to college. The tutors will help me with my math, and even if they don't, Coach'll just make the teachers push me through. Ha Ha! Corey's got thang's to do!

3. If I don't make the pro's, imma rap. You know spit lyrics, write songs, get my groove on. Are you even listening to me? I got rhymes, like 50 cent, and Jay-Z, Ludacris ain't even bad as me! I'm the next Tupac Shakur. He dropped out of school. Yeah, he's dead, but he made a lot of money.

4. Mannnnnnn.... ain't nobody in my family went to no college. What is that? I love my mama. She straight... we real cool, and she ain't went to no college, but she got a GED, after she had me. And my Daddy, he locked up for hustling. He ain't go to college, and we still bought us the biggest house on the block! So how ya like me now?

5. What's cool about stupid old dudes? My Social Studies teacher been talking for 45 minutes straight about some fool named Abraham Lincoln. He white, ain't he? What he got to do with me? My mama black. My daddy puerto rican. They say one of my grandmama's was indian, with hair all the way down her back, and I thank we got some Chinese in our family, too! for real! Mannnnnnnn! why she can't talk about somebody I know, somebody like my people? It ain't no black, spanish or chinese people in dat stupid book!

6. It's third period. I ain't eat no breakfast this morning. I'm hungry, and that ain't cool. I told my PE teacher to get out my face. My head hurt. Ain't got no energy. I ain't get off work til 11:30 last night. He said if I don't dress out, I can't play. If I can't
