Spiral Self
It is difficult to imagine
That life as we know it
Is somewhere
Between confusion and
Absurdity.
We feel we need
The cell phone,
The computer, and
The flat screen television.
Yet we fail to call
Our mothers,
Surf a meaningless web, and
Watch reruns of shows
Before the cell phone,
Personal computer, and
The flat screen ever existed.
We control our weight
With programs,
Tasteless food,
And products from clever
Infomercials seen
On the flat screen.
We like gimmicks
And miracles.
Hype, we believe.
We ignore the obvious,
Worship the oblivious,
And support the ridiculous.
We must be entertained.
From funerals
To news, Classrooms
To boardrooms,
Boredom must be erased
Quickly
We demand much,
Provide little,
Complain loudly,
Thank rarely,
Medicate often.

a flower grew

The Effect Of The Hand
I take my hand and strike
the face flinched then
cruel words are said
no excuses, no compassion,
Cars parked on the streets of each city.
People all gathered looking into the sky.
A chain reaction of magnitude proportions.
