won't work.
Changes to your diet might also help. Cutting down on acidic foods such as apples, oranges and drinking less fizzy drinks should help reduce the effects of the illness. Irritable bowel syndrome is sometimes aggravated by citric acid, which is in all fizzy drinks except Dr Pepper as far as I am aware. Most alcoholic beverages contain it too and a lot of other foods that you don't expect it to be in. Reduce your intake of citric acid and that should help to calm down your stomach a lot.
Other foods which can affect your stomach while you have irritable bowel syndrome are red meat, milk products such as cheese, butter and yoghurt that is not probiotic, chocolate and coffee. Take away food is generally bad also as it is oily, fatty or fried, which will upset the stomach of an irritable bowel sufferer.
Exercise also helps, as this will help to reduce stress, which is one of the main factors in causing irritable bowel syndrome. By walking for half an hour once a day you can help to lower the levels of adrenaline in your stomach, which can aggravate irritable bowel syndrome. Swimming is also good because it is relaxing and uses a lot of muscles. Any type of exercise that uses up excess adrenaline is helpful.
There are plenty of helpful websites online containing information about dealing with irritable bowel syndrome and learning to live with it. Many of the websites have forums and chat rooms so that you can talk to other sufferers and share tactics for reducing the effects of irritable bowel syndrome on your life.
If you have any problems or think you may have irritably bowel syndrome, then it is always a good idea to talk to a doctor as they know what to do to help you reduce the affect of it on your life. It is a horrible condition to have but can be controlled to a degree as long as you watch what you eat and drink.
