Recovering from low self-esteem

by Puller

Its not how far you fall, but how high you bounce once you hit the bottom. There are all different types of people but Steve Simms is correct in saying, "bouncers are the most successful people on earth...". When recovering from something as small as a bad day or something as draining as a death in the family its important to "bounce".

If your self-esteem is low you must remember "God is on our side" as the famous Christian rock artist Chris Tomlin says in his famous song and he continues on to sing:

"Though the mountains may fall
And the sky will crumble
There ain't nothin' gonna stand in our way"

Nothing is going to stand in the way of the love that God has toward all his children. When feeling down you must know that you are loved and everything is going to be ok.

Nothing good comes out of having a low self-esteem. It not only hurts you and the people around you. Its more fun to be around people who are positive and happy then ones who are down on themselves and un-happy. If you have low self-esteem ask yourself why? Is it worth being depressed about or did your drop in self-esteem happen because of a small hurdle in your life that you can easily get through? It helps to just sit back and take a moment of peace and quite. The world today is extremely fast paced and confusing, people today don't try to slow down and smell the roses. What may have at first seemed like a major problem may just be a small problem once you sit back and think about it. You just need to only slow down and open your eyes to see the many gifts of God, such as a sunset or the face of a smiling child.

When I feel like my self-esteem has dropped I try and recognize it and admit it to myself. I need to do this because I know I become snappy and bitter toward people when my self-esteem drops and I shouldn't be snappy toward others because I am feeling down. Theres no use in hurting others self-esteem when your down yourself. I usually try and find a quiet place away from everyone and everything where I can just sit back, think and have no worries. Nature is usually a nice quite place, find an empty park and surround yourself with Gods beauty.

Being alone in nature is one of the best places to pray. You have no distractions or things to rush too, its just you and God. Although it may be hard to do when your self-esteem is down I always try when I pray to thank God for all the good that has come to me. When your down you need to try and think of the good things, the things that make you smile, laugh and relax.

Theres nothing fun about having low self-esteem and thats we we must all bounce back. To sit at rock bottom accomplishes nothing but sadness. Jesus did not die on the cross for us so we could sit and be down. He died on the cross to save us, so we could live happy lives and join him in heaven when our time came. At times everyone gets frustrated and gets mad at God and thats alright were not perfect and he knows that. But what we all need to realize is he is always there for us, and will always forgive us.

Low self-esteem can always be overcome one just needs a positive attitude. Although its almost never easy when your down on yourself you need to realize your important and you are a miracle created by God. General Patton said, "Success is how high you bounce once you hit the bottom." He said this because he knew it took a special person who think they have failed to be able to rise back to the top and be themselves again. Its not easy but its achievable for all, you just need a little faith.
