It was never overnight, because if you really research these people you will find that they studied for years, before anything reasonable happened.
You have that "one thing" that you excel at. It is some talent or ability that for you is second nature. It is that something that you don't have to make "extra effort" for. Your job is finding out what that is. It is not so easy when you are not aware of what that could be. You have to ask yourself some question and even try to confirm with others that know you well, preferably people who are positive and supportive of you.
That one thing could be something that you keep discounting about yourself. Can you draw? Do you have an ability to teach concepts to others? Is there some hobby or craft that you enjoy doing? Do you like to work with numbers, or maybe do you like to build things? Everyone has a place in the world. Some people simply enjoy volunteering for different causes, would you think that person may make a great sociology professor? Some people have a great sense of compassion toward other people and their circumstances, would they not fit into a grief counselor job or psychologist or in some consultant type position?
Some people just like working alone, salesman, entrepreneurs and a multiple amounts of representative jobs are created just for them. It all depends on what the biggest pull is for you.
I do think about when one is deciding what they want in their lives. That really isn't enough if you don't know what you want to do. We would all love to be millionaires, but can you name the vehicle that will get us there? It could be a combination of many things, such as investments, savings, a small business and a full time job.
That one thing is up to you to discover and pursue. No one else can do that for you. To retain your own happiness, it will have to be your choice, not someone else's. You can't be led by your circumstances, because your circumstances change from day to day and year to year.
That choice that you make for that one thing whether it is better relationships, wealth, improved health etc. can only be fulfilling, if in fact it was you who made the choice, good or bad. If your choice doesn't pan out, look over your talents and abilities again and seek what you did well. You can always change careers, jobs, or paths after all you are not a tree. Life unfolds in segments, so as we go on this journey to find our path, let us realize that things do change and also that our talents and abilities grow in time.
That one thing will be the thing that you will grow into and enjoy. From that point all the other things that you want in life will come to you. As you are happy in your achievements and as you are enjoying your life many more things have the tendency of showing up in miraculous ways. Be strong make a choice!
