I want to start by saying that 'zombieism' is in fact a real occurrence. I've heard that in Africa, there is a type of herb or herbs that will create this effect. Once ingested, you body will begin to shut down and your mind will go into a sedative state. You will lose all consciousness; eventually leading to your death. And I don't advise anyone to 'try that at home'.
Years ago if you would have asked me which zombie works better, fast or slow, I would have most definitely said slow. And I still believe they work slightly better than the ones in warped speed. I'm always open to change but I like my zombies slow. Because zombies are eerie no matter what you do to them. The slower the better, I say, because once they are dead, their basic motor functions leave too. And yes, one could argue that running is part of human nature; if they can eat they can run. However, in this case, it just seems sort of strange, but at the same time I can understand. Even when their slow, you still have that chance of being eaten alive. So there's no real reason to speed things up a bit. Plus the upside side of slow is the fact that you will less likely hear them coming. But, the best part about them being slow is the excess getaway time. You would have time to search for weapons, vehicles, food, shelter, etc.
On the other hand, fast works pretty well too. There's nothing scarier than a flesh eater chasing you at a regular human pace. But, can't you hear when someone is running? That kind of takes it away from the whole 'sneaking up on you' factor. When I saw the remake of Dawn of The Dead, I thought they had lost their minds when I saw them act like marathon runners. Of course, after viewing it couple of times I now see the appeal. It definitely heightens the scare factor. Plus, the getaway time is shortened by a lot. Looking for a hiding spot would be incredibly complicated, almost impossible, depending on your location. I am sort of getting used to the faster ones because in recent years they are making them all that way. I wonder what they'll change in the future. I still vote for swimming.
So in conclusion, slower equals a better chance of survival. You will have more time to get to higher ground and search for a location to dwell. Faster doesn't always mean better, it is visually stunning but that's about it. You will most likely get caught and lose some of the people with you.
