in a degree whether at a traditional school or on-line?
You have now decided what you will study and how you will study. Next you need to determine where you will attend school. Today, there are many options ranging from local colleges and universities to on-line degrees. Whether you are looking at a traditional school or virtual classroom, these are a few checks to make.
1. Is the school Accredited? There are several accreditation agencies throughout the US. Be sure that your school is accredited by one of them. This is important because it validates your degree and keeps you from getting something from a "degree mill."
2. What are the entrance requirements? Some schools require you to take the GRE or GMAT, others do not. Are there certain prerequisites you have to have? Will you need financial aid, and if so, how do you apply for it? All graduate schools will require you to supply them with an official transcript of your previous degree work. Be sure to keep this in mind and know how to contact your undergraduate school to get one.
3. Does the school offer student services you need? If you are a veteran, are there veteran benefits? Will an advisor be made readily available to help with your degree plan? Do people answer the phone when you call or does the school's website provide the information you need?
4. Do the class schedules fit into your schedule? If you work full-time will you be able to attend classes easily? Can you work on-line at times that are beneficial to you?
5. Will you be happy attending this school? Ultimately, you are the only judge of what you want and how happy you will be. If you are unhappy with your school choice, then choose another. There are a multitude of choices, so pick!
